This is one of a series of articles dealing with issues which we have confronted in cases where this firm has acted.
In the course of our immigration law practice, we acted for a number of Pakistani Christians who claimed refugee status in Australia because he faced persecution for being a Christian.
With detailed instructions from our client and the relevant research, we have demonstrated that Christians in Pakistan are at risk of persecution by the Taliban and are subject to extra-legal penalties by the Pakistani government for the “crime” of blasphemy.
The following is a case in point which demonstrates the types of issues we have dealt with in the context of these claims.
The applicants in this case were a couple of the Christian faith, who had in the past experienced very serious threats.
The reviewer in this case considered that there is a real chance of the client being harmed should she return to Pakistan, the threat of harm arising by reason of her religious faith as a Christian.
The reviewer accepted that relocation within Pakistan would not be a realistic option for the applicants, based on the first-named applicant’s previous attempt at relocating to Karachi. The reviewer was therefore not satisfied that the applicants could reasonably relocate within Pakistan to successfully avoid harm in the foreseeable future.
This case is very similar to one of a number of Pakistani Christians whom our firm has represented successfully.
We note certain details have been omitted in the above account to protect the privacy of the applicants.
Australian Immigration law, and in particular refugee law, is highly technical and applicants for the various classes of visas which may be available for entry into Australia require skilful representation. Craddock Murray Neumann Immigration Lawyers has represented more than 5,000 visa applicants over the years and we have an extensive skill base and information resources to assist our clients.
